Tony Green Testimonial Match Original Programme

Newcastle United v Middlesbrough

A crowd of 28,000 turned out to pay tribute to one of Newcastle's favourite players. Less than a week after the 3-0 Wembley defeat Newcastle played Middlesbrough is a testimonial for Tony Green.

For anybody who wasn’t lucky enough to see Tony Green play, it seems unbelievable that he became a legend on Tyneside despite only playing 39 matches and scoring 3 goals.

A talented midfielder, Green was signed from Blackpool in 1971 for a then record fee for a Scotsman.

His running with the ball was a sight to behold, only to be tragically retired early from football at the age of only 27 due to injury.

A fantastic item of Newcastle United memorabilia.
