Classic Bryan 'Pop' Robson magazine cover.

Came up through the ranks at St.James’ Park and the undoubted highlight of Pop’s time in black and white, was when he helped lift the Fairs Cup.

In that 1968/69 season he scored 30 goals, including 6 in the Fairs Cup run.

Pop played in both the home and away legs of the final and eventually moved on to West Ham in 1971 for a then Hammers record fee of £120,000.

Goal magazine was first published in August 1968. It became a successful magazine in the early 1970’s. It was incorporated into Shoot magazine in 1974.
